Dr. Ubhaya earned his PhD in Engineering and MA in Mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley.  He worked at Washington University, Case Western Reserve University and Bell Laboratories, and visited Carnegie-Mellon University.  He has been at NDSU since 1981.

His teaching interests include assembly language, data structures, algorithms, and operations research. His research interests include optimization, approximation and algorithms.

His other interests include music. Dr. Ubhaya is a noted player of the percussion instrument called Tabla.
