This page is dedicated to the top level cache of the Hungarian Academic Network. The patched version of Squid was run on Thursday, October 30, 1997. We also have one more day of statistics for this proxy.

Note that proxy's computer is used for non-caching purposes as well. A description of the environment extracted from cache owner's e-mail follows.

"It [cache.iif.hu] has performance problem and I am trying to figure out where is the bottleneck in the whole caching process. This cache is going to be upgraded in the near future. (It is an old Sun SparcCenter 2000, with 10 processors and 1.5 GB of memory, but it is heavily used for other purposes: oracle databases, more than 10000 mailboxes, about 50 different web servers, etc.) The response time of this site increased significantly in the past few months. Sometimes a cached object is returned in 40 seconds (!)."

Warning: This proxy was running Squid with the "double-read(2)" bug that may affect performance of a proxy.
