Technological support for a culture of
learning
Technology provides both new opportunities and new challenges for
universities of the future. Perhaps the greatest challenge of today's
university is to discover ways to thoughtfully integrate technology
with its mission.
North Dakota State University sees the pursuit of technological
innovation as a means to enhance intellectual innovation. Even though
technology will not alter why the university does its work,
technology most certainly will transform the nature and manner of
that work. Technologically-driven cultural changes demand rapid and
informed adaptations from individuals. Such changes demand equally
rapid evolution from our traditional centers of learning.
NDSU is committed to the continuous reexamination of its processes
with the aim of learning how new technologies can best serve the
NDSU
mission. Doing so will make NDSU a continued economic stimulus
and source of pride for North Dakota.
NDSU envisions its use of technology to
- facilitate learning about and from the world's information
resources;
- contribute to the global knowledge base;
- benefit the citizens and organizations of the state; and
- better the lives of all members of the campus community.
In working toward this vision, NDSU pledges to
- give priority to new technological
initiatives which promote and enhance the quality of
active learning;
- plan, develop, and maintain a
first-rate technological infrastructure;
- form
partnerships to take full advantage of
and efficiently deploy technological resources; and
- use its new technologies to improve
the capabilities of academic, administrative, and support
functions to create and sustain a culture where
interpersonal contact and technology
mutually support learning.
